2022

December

Content updates

  • The Implementation Audits and Reports topic has become Self-Review and Board Assurances and now matches the updated Board Assurances PDF schedule. We have changed the name of this topic to make its purpose clearer.
  • We reviewed the International Learners section to take into account the updated Code Guidelines and resources on the NZQA website. We have also clarified content and streamlined formatting, including the Code references at the top of each topic to make it clearer how the content relates to the requirements of the Code.

November

Content update

  • With the repeal of the NAGs and NEGs and the commencement of the new strategic planning and reporting framework on 1 January 2023, we have removed all references to NAGs and NEGs from generic SchoolDocs content. We have begun incorporating the National Education Learning Priorities (NELP) into our content.

October

Content update

  • We have updated our Uniform and Dress Code topics to strengthen the policy wording. The Uniform topic now references the consultation requirement of school bylaws, as well as considering student wellbeing, inclusive education, and the New Zealand Human Rights Commission uniform guidelines when reviewing uniform rules. Many schools have a tailored version of this topic and we encourage schools to adopt our updated generic version, which will give you policy wording you don't currently have. See Uniform/Dress Code.

September

Content updates

  • We have rolled out scheduled review updates to the Healthcare and Behaviour Management sections.
  • We have created a new optional topic for schools that allow external or private tutors to come on their sites. See External and Private Tutors.

COVID-19 updates

  • We've updated the COVID-19 content to reflect the removal of the COVID-19 Protection Framework (traffic lights) and our shift to a new long-term approach to managing COVID-19.
  • The COVID-19 Information and Procedures topic is now called COVID-19 Health Measures and focuses on health and safety planning and risk assessment.
  • The Risk Assessment for COVID-19 policy has been removed and the content is now covered in COVID-19 Health Measures.

August

Content updates

  • We added a new Flexible Working Arrangements policy to all school sites in week 4, term 3. This also resulted in small updates to Employer Responsibility Policy, Staff Wellbeing, and Primary Duty of Care. See the Term 3 Release Notes for further detail.
  • We added a new Recording Photos, Video, and Sound policy to all school sites in week 4, term 3. See the Term 3 Release Notes for further detail.

July

Content updates

  • We have rolled out scheduled review updates to the Health and Safety Management and Emergency, Disaster, and Crisis Management sections.
  • We have updated our Protected Disclosure topics to reflect the new Protected Disclosures (Protection of Whistleblowers) Act 2022. These updates have been reviewed by Kathryn Dalziel, barrister specialising in privacy law, and employment law specialists at Anderson Lloyd.
  • We have internally reviewed and updated Abuse Recognition and Reporting, Health Education, Governance Documents, and Missing Student Protocol to ensure they are current. See the Term 2 Release Notes for further detail.

COVID-19 update

  • We reviewed the COVID-19 Information and Procedures policy on 25 July in light of the strong recommendation from the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health for schools to require students in year 4 and above to wear masks indoors for the first four weeks of term 3. We concluded that the SchoolDocs COVID policies already cover this situation, so no changes are needed to refer specifically to this recommendation.

June

Content update

  • We rolled out scheduled review updates to the Harassment section and the Personal Grievance topic. See the Term 2 Release Notes for further detail.

May

  • We continue to update our COVID-19 content as needed. See the Term 2 Release Notes for further detail.

  • All reviews are now open to board, staff, and parents/caregivers (whānau).

International update

  • We updated our international content to match the Tertiary and International Code of Practice, which came into force on 1 January 2022. The changes are extensive but are generally minor, i.e. clarifications to wording. Notably, we have changed our wording across the international module from "international students" to "international learners" in keeping with the new Code wording. See the Release Notes for full details of the changes.
