Protected Disclosure topics

The Act has been designed to clarify the definition of serious wrongdoing and make it clear that anyone can complain to the Ombudsman at any time. There are strengthened protections for disclosers and guidance on processes for public sector organisations, which includes state schools. There are also updates about adverse conduct against a discloser, which is not permitted under the Act.

Reminders should be sent out annually. This is a requirement for public entities under the Protected Disclosures (Protection of Whistleblowers) Act 2022.
