Staff Breaches of the Alcohol/Drugs Policy

- This is a new topic that deals with staff breaches of the alcohol/drugs policy.
- The topic covers expectations of staff and their responsibilities, searches, alcohol and drug testing, dealing with breaching the policy, and rehabilitation.
- Added a link to a Signs of Impairment Guide, which can be used as a checklist to help determine if there is reasonable cause to suspect an employee of being impaired by drugs and/or alcohol.

- Added different wording options for primary/intermediate and high schools regarding students leaving school during the day when they are sick. Composite schools can let us know the wording they would like.
- Updated our wording about administering paracetamol to read: "The school will not administer medication to a student without formal parental consent. Paracetamol may be given with verbal consent and instruction on the appropriate dosage from a parent." If your school has its own wording here, it will stay the same.
- The paracetamol wording also updated in the Medicines, EOTC Health and First Aid, and Managing Minor/Moderate Injury topics.

- Updated this topic to state that the principal notifies the board in term 4 of the number of half-days and the dates the school will be open for instruction in the upcoming year. We will update this in Implementation Audits and Reports.
