Internal review updates
Updates to Legislation and Regulations Policy section were delayed due to legal review. These topics were reviewed in Term 1, 2023, and these updates were published in Term 2, 2024.
Requests for Official Information
- This policy was updated:
- to explain more clearly how requests for official information are managed, including requests under the Official Information Act and Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act
- to clarify that parents and guardians are entitled to receive reports on the performance and progress of their child.
Process for Requests Under the Official Information Act (new)
- This new topic outlines the process for responding to requests under the Official Information Act.
Copyright
- This policy has been strengthened to clarify that the board owns the copyright of any work created by an employee in the course of their employment.
- We've added wording about the responsibilities of members of the school community in relation to copyright.
Creative Commons Policy
- Creative Commons content was covered in two topics: Creative Commons, and Creative Commons Policy. We have merged this content into one policy. Schools that provide their own policy will have a short version of the policy and keep the link to their document.
- We've clarified that creative commons applies to original works and not to other forms of intellectual property.
- Note that Creative Commons recommends using CC BY 4.0 DEED (Attribution 4.0 International) as the 4.0 versions of all CC licences are more user-friendly and more internationally robust. The current default wording refers to the CC BY 3.0 NZ licence.
Creative Commons (retired)
- Content from this topic has been merged into Creative Commons Policy. This topic has been retired (removed from sites).
Staff Resources
- Removed a bulletpoint about intellectual property as this is covered by the updated Copyright policy.
SchoolDocs internally reviewed other content during term 2 2024 to ensure it was up to date with current resources and good practice.
Stand-down, Suspension, and Exclusion Procedures
- Updated the section about convening a meeting of the board for suspensions to include: "A quorum of the board is required for a suspension meeting, or the board may delegate the power to make suspension decisions to a committee of at least two board members."
