Legislation and Administration – Enrolment topics

Enrolment

 

  • Added more policy information from the Education and Training Act 2020 and the Ministry of Education website.
  • Relevant information from the Enrol a Student topic has been moved into this topic, and Enrol a Student has been removed from all sites.
  • Added more content about enrolment conditions and the enrolment process.
  • Removed wording about prospectuses and open evenings/days as it has been difficult for schools to keep this up-to-date, and is best shared directly with families through other channels.
  • If you had an Information Booklet form topic on your site, this has been removed. We no longer link to prospectuses.
  • Removed school-specific wording about who the contact for new enrolments is. This is not needed in your policy.

Enrol a Student (retired)

  • Enrol a Student will be retired (removed) with this update. Relevant information has been moved into the Enrolment topic.

Enrolment Scheme (state schools)

  • This new topic outlines board responsibilities under the Education and Training Act 2020 in relation to state school enrolment schemes based on a home zone.
  • If you currently link to an enrolment scheme or home zone map from your Enrolment topic, this will be moved to this new topic.

Cohort Entry Policy

  • Updated the wording throughout for clarity, including information about cohort start dates, consultation, and notice.

Student Uniform

 

Student Dress Expectations
(for schools without a uniform)

  • Updated the titles and added a clear statement that the school does or does not require students to wear a uniform and this is the school policy.
  • Added a dropdown to explain school bylaws.
  • Updated our wording about non-uniform days and financial hardship and added affordability as a key consideration when reviewing the uniform.
  • Removed procedural, school-specific uniform/dress expectations information from this topic. As uniform rules and dress expectation information can be very detailed and difficult for schools to keep up to date and consistent in multiple places (e.g. school websites, newsletters), we will not be including these details in the text of the SchoolDocs policy from the beginning of term 3.
  • Provided two options for schools to provide further uniform information – 1) a statement about contacting the school office or 2) a link to uniform information on your website.
