Emergency Planning and Procedures – reviewed term 4 2020

These updates have been made in response to information in the Ministry of Education's revised guidance Planning and preparing for emergencies (September 2020).

Emergency Planning and Procedures

  • Added that emergency planning needs to consider staff and students with additional or high health needs.

Contact in an Emergency

  • Added "monitors and records when students are collected by an authorised parent/caregiver."

Emergency Evacuation

  • Added "Students, staff, and visitors with disabilities should be assisted by a responsible person."
  • Added "Monitor and record when students are collected by an authorised parent or caregiver."

Violent Intruder on School Grounds

  • Added more information about moving away from danger, staying hidden, and silencing your cellphone.

Guidelines: Reverse Evacuation or Lockdown Plan

  • These planning guidelines are only available on the Demo site. We updated them so schools can consider shelter in place when developing their reverse evacuation plans.
