International Learner Concerns and Complaints

• Updated this policy to reflect new information regarding NZQA's procedures and to attach to new resources supplied by NZQA.

Cellphones and Other Personal Digital Devices

• Added a legislation section at the bottom of the policy, for clarity.

TKI links

• Replaced links to TKI across the site with links to Tāhūrangi, where possible. If no equivalent links, removed old resource now that TKI is retired.

• Linked to new Privacy Commissioner resource, "CCTV and school bathrooms".

• Replaced CERT NZ (website retired) with NCSC.

School Community Conduct Expectations

• Added wording to cover concerns or complaints about students.

Classroom Release Time

• Added drop-down explanations for classroom teacher and permanent role.

Generative AI

• Strengthened the policy by adding information about privacy, ethical, and cultural considerations.
• Added optional wording about principles for AI use and about board use of generative AI.
• Updated sample wording about staff and student use of AI.
• Policy was previously optional for all schools but has been now been added to all secondary and composite school sites. It remains an optional policy for primary schools and intermediates.
• Schools can also choose to link to their own acceptable use of AI document.

Opening and Closing the School (formerly Length of the School Year)

• Updated this policy for independent and charter schools to change the title and bring it in line with the requirements of these different school types.
