Performance Management
|
- Although the recent Accord indicated there will be further updates on appraisal, the Teaching Council and the PPTA have both recently recommended reviewing Performance Management policy now to remove any overly compliance-focused wording in preparation for any legislative changes. We have reviewed this policy with this in mind and, taking on feedback from schools, this policy has been reframed to emphasise professional trust and confidence.
- Links have been added to the opening paragraph for greater clarity.
- The importance of the school's strategic goals/objectives and professional development has been emphasised.
- The nature of the cycle has been redefined to its minimum requirement.
- The paragraph on competency has been clarified.

Appraisal of the Principal
|
- We made some minor tweaks in wording to allow more flexibility for schools about delegates/appraisers and timing.
- Updated several links and added a Resources section.

Appraisal of Teaching Staff
|
- Updated the topic following clarification from the Teaching Council about the minimum requirements.
- Made some of the appraisal process optional. Added a note in red about the changes in relation to recent clarification from the Teaching Council.
- Clarified some of the wording about what is required and what ERO can access, following clarification from the Teaching Council.
- Added a statement about attestation to clarify how appraisal/performance management links to attestation.
